I had trouble finding a manual online, but there is (small) one on the computer, so it is not a huge issue. They need to introduce a short little program, that doesn't run in the background, that lists all the extra background programs and processes they have installed, explaining each one, and there give the user the option of disabling automatic start for each non-essential one.
Does ASUS really think that the ASUS vibe fun center will be the next big thing? If so, then to discourage people like me from being skeptical of their computers they need to document very carefully what the ASUS vibe process does and make it very easy to find on the computer such information. I wish computer companies would be a little less presumptuous, and concentrate more just on building good clean hardware. E.g., there is some ASUS program which from its name I presume has something to do with the ASUS vibe fun center. Some of it rather obviously seems like bloatware. And the documentation is rather sketchy, so it is hard to know which ASUS programs are useful or even required for hardware (e.g, I'm guessing I don't want to disable what controls the fan speed intelligently). E.g., every thirty minutes or so something called LiveUpdt.exe, which is apparently an ASUS program, causes a Windows User Account Control box to pop up asking me whether I want it to make changes to my computer. There are a few ASUS processes running in background that seem like bloatware. A good low-nonsense computer for non-serious gamers who don't anticipate much need to add components.Ĭons: Graphics deficient compared to other components moreover, the power supply is rather weak, so adding video card or other power-hungry components might I'm guessing cause problems. Case is sleek and doesn't take up much space. HD video probably plays well enough for those who don't often watch HD movies on their computer.
